The Pomodoro Technique - Crush Deadlines and Improve Productivity

When I need to get boring-yet-important things done, I turn to a kitchen timer. And it has worked very well for me! This technique is called the Pomodoro technique (developed by Francisco Cirillo) Here are the steps:

  1. Collate tasks into 30 minute chunks
  2. Set a timer for 25 minutes and just start knocking tasks out
  3. Take a 5 minute break once timer rings
  4. Repeat
  5. If you have multiple chunks, take a longer break every 4 cycles (~15, may be even 30 minutes depending on the work you did) This works well for me because I know there's a pause to the grunge on the horizon. And honestly, checking those tasks off sometimes feels unreasonably good! And this might even work for deep work (where you're working on a long task) but I've got a "deep-work variant" that works for me - more on that in a future post! And if you try this, let me know how you like it! Downloadable Summary ?
